We are looking for an Experienced Children's Home Deputy Manager to join our growing team.
We are opening 2 new 3 bed children's homes for Learning Disabilities and Neurodiverse in Stafford ST17 9YA and Norton Canes WS11 areas to provide medium to long-term residential care services for children and young people aged 8 to 17.
This is a full time role (37 1/2 - 40 hours week) based at Highfields, Stafford and may include weekends and unsocial hours. The role will also include cross organisational arrangements to ensure our services are safe and effective.

Main Purpose of Job
To provide leadership and support to the staff team to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to the children and young people as part of Rising Brook's care and support.
Act as a leader, role model and coordinator of shifts, fully deputising for the Registered Home Manager in their absence.
To lead the development of the child/young person's Care Plan ensuring its delivery daily and ensuring that all the basic physical needs of the children and young people are met
To provide guidance to colleagues, communicating goals, objectives, and practice to all staff team to support development.
To provide leadership and guidance to support decision making that is always in the best interests of the children/young people and the organisation
To actively monitoring and providing feedback to individuals.
To be alert to signs of distress, neglect, or abuse, ensuring that the children and young people are monitored and protected.
To know, understand and role model Rising Brook Care's cultural and behavioural expectations.
Along with the Registered Manager, facilitate regular team meetings and planning meetings with the staff team.
Along with the Registered Manager, be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of health and safety amongst the staff team.
Duties
To act in a manner that is always befitting of Rising Brook Care as provider of children's services and in line with the organisation's values.

To apply a comprehensive understanding of Rising Brook Care's policies and procedures as an employee and all aspects of working practices.
To understand and apply safeguarding practices and processes, maintaining vigilance when supervising children and young people in line with risk assessments to ensure that significant behaviours are noted and recorded, actively monitoring and providing feedback in this regard to individuals and to line manager.
To communicate effectively with the staff team about regulatory requirements to support the homes delivery of high-quality care.
To utilise the organisations whistle blowing policy to ensure that poor practice, negligence and dishonesty is dealt with appropriately.
To be accountable for the monitoring of all paperwork, actively monitoring quality and providing frequent feedback to staff in this regard.
To contribute to the co-ordination of training for staff and positively reinforce learning regarding training.
To contribute actively to the strategic developments of all aspects of the home, including a caring home environment - planning, organising, and delegating to others to assist in this process.
Provide coordination and leadership to ensure all the basic physical needs of the child/young person on a daily basis are met and that accurate records for the young person are kept in line with organisational systems.
Be mindful of race, culture, language, and religion, to ensure that every child/young person is treated fairly and as an individual entitled to respect and dignity.
Be sensitive to the needs of individual children and young people and provide support and comfort to young people under stress, providing direction in this regard
Develop and implement daily shift planners and weekly planners for children and young people to ensure the smooth running of shifts.
To take the lead and work with internal and external services and professionals to ensure continuity of care for children and young people, maintaining professional relationships with young people, individuals with parent responsibility, social workers, teaching staff and other professionals involved in the care of children and young people; attending meetings as required.
To take the lead in the creation and maintenance of a therapeutic homely environment considering the child/young person's wishes and preferences.
To ensure own and others continuing vigilance when supervising young people in line with risk assessments to ensure that significant behaviours are noted, recorded and responded to appropriately.
To coordinate and take a lead in carrying out tasks and maintain all relevant records pertaining to Health & Safety, fire safety and other records as directed by your line manager providing direction to colleagues in this regard.
Where requested carry out quality assurance process, inclusive of Regulation 45 reports and responding to Regulation 44 reports.
To actively monitor working practices of the home and provide feedback to staff regarding quality and standards.
To take the lead in co-ordinating the homes rota to effectively manage yours and others training commitments and annual leave responsibilities effectively, ensuring that you are proactive and use initiative to ensure that all working hours are used effectively.
Participate in the on-call rota as required adhering to the on-call policy and delivering the service to the standard expected by the organisation.
To facilitate effective handovers, actively monitoring and providing feedback to staff and line Registered Manager about the quality of handovers.
To act as a leader amongst the staff team, providing support to the team to help meet agreed objectives and goals.
To communicate positively and constructively about the children and young people, colleagues, and organisation at all times.
Make use of regular supervisions and consistently demonstrate the skills to engage in personal reflection about the impact of the working on one's own feelings, one's colleagues and about one's own strengths and weaknesses.
Utilise written and digital communication effectively to share significant information with colleagues, line managers and other relevant professionals in-line with policy and procedure.
To act with initiative, accountability, and responsibility at all times to assist with functioning of the team, providing leadership, direction and guidance on shift.
To recognise one's own strengths and weaknesses, and those of colleague to contribute effectively to the function of the team, acting as a lead in this regard to manage shifts effectively
To contribute to other projects, initiatives and recruitment processes in the wider organisation as required.
Lead and participate supervision as required, role modelling constructive and meaningful engagement with these processes.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required to fulfil your role.
Experience
22 years and above -

Previous experience working within a residential children's home environment at a management level with strong leadership skills

NVQ Level 4/5 caring for children and young people / children's residential workforce (or working towards) -
essential.
(Note: this would need to be completed within 2 years of successful probation).
Related knowledge of legislative frameworks such as Children Act 1989, Children Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Ofsted regulations and safeguarding procedures -

Knowledge of care plans and medication administration

Demonstrable understanding of the needs of children and young people in residential care and ability to handle challenging situations with empathy, patience, and professionalism.-

A strong child focus with a hands on approach and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children and young people, often in challenging circumstances -
