Night Owl with a Big Heart? We've Got Just the Role for You.
Tired of the 9 to 5? Prefer stars to spreadsheets? Thrive when the world goes quiet? Perfect -- because Karoo Group is on the hunt for a
Waking Nights Support Worker
who's got heart, humour, and a healthy dose of human decency to join our solo provision tucked away in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside.
We're not just offering a job. We're offering a chance to be someone's safe place. Someone's constant. Someone who shows up, even when the world is sleeping.
What's the deal?
You'll be working 1:1 with one incredible young person who deserves love, security, and the kind of care that doesn't clock out at sunset. You'll become their night-time anchor -- part parent figure, part superhero, part zen master.
A taste of what you'll be doing:
Providing the kind of support you'd want for your own child -- love, consistency, and the occasional midnight snack (if needed).
Building trust through genuine connection and a trauma-informed approach.
Keeping things safe, calm, and secure through the night.
Bringing a sense of structure while never losing your sense of humour.
Handling challenging behaviours with patience, presence, and maybe a few deep breaths.
Making sure one young voice is heard, respected, and never ignored.
Working closely with our Residential Home Manager to make our home the best it can be (and keep the inspectors happy, of course).
Being part of the solution -- even when the world is asleep.
We think you'll love it here if you:
Believe young people deserve the absolute best we can give.
Have a knack for staying cool under pressure and calm in chaos.
Are either experienced in children's residential care or feel a calling so strong you're ready to dive in and learn.
Are up for working nights (weekends and holidays included -- they're part of the gig).
Either hold, or are ready to train towards, a Level 3 in Residential Childcare.
Can drive and have a car (because country roads + night shifts = not great without one).
Have at least 2 years in a similar setting -- this is a bonus, not a dealbreaker.
The young person you'll be supporting doesn't need perfection.
They need
presence
. They need
patience
. They need
you
.
If you're the kind of person who sees the human behind the behaviour, who understands that love and limits go hand in hand, and who's not afraid of the odd curveball in the dead of night -- we want to hear from you.
