(with view to extension as funding is reviewed annually).



Job Purpose:



To provide support to children and young people who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse in the Swindon community.

To support and educate young people about Domestic Abuse and Healthy Relationships To establish and maintain effective relationships with educational establishments and other external agencies supporting children. To work with Primary and Secondary schools and Further Education settings, external agencies, and parents to support the positive outcomes for children and young people who have experience of Domestic Abuse.

Main duties:



Managing service delivery and performance



To work with children to identify support needs, and to signpost or refer to other agencies. To provide 1:1 support to children and young people who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse in the Swindon community and surrounding areas. To support and educate young people who have experienced abusive behaviour. To establish and maintain effective relationships with educational establishments and other external agencies supporting children. To work with Primary, Secondary Schools and Further Education settings on implementation of healthy relationship education and facilitate drop-in sessions and workshops on this topic. Co- facilitate healthy relationships education sessions in both Primary and Secondary schools To co-facilitate The CYP Recovery Toolkit and Helping Hands programmes for children who have experienced domestic abuse to build confidence, self-esteem and resilience. To plan and provide a programme of activities for children to be delivered in the education setting or a setting agreed with the Children and Families Manager. To work with parents and professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children. To create and keep up to date promotional material to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the work the CYP service undertake. To attend multi agency meetings, conferences, and community events to raise awareness on the work of SWA. To ensure clear, accurate, complete, and concise written records are kept on all support sessions and group activities within the child support service. This includes developing, monitoring and evaluation of work to evidence the effectiveness of the services provided and to continuously improve delivery. To remain up to date on child protection and safeguarding requirements, as well as SWA policies and procedures, bringing any concerns or issues immediately to the attention of managers.

General:



There is no administrative support for this post and so it is important that the post-holder is self-servicing and that all information and administrative systems are kept up to date. To undertake risk assessments for all activities to ensure that all health and safety requirements are met. To develop and prepare performance reports, including basic statistics relating to service activity, and its effectiveness, as required. To maintain good communication with families accessing the service, informing parents and staff of any incidents, and keeping accurate records of these. To identify, in conjunction with the Children and Families manager, training and development needs, and participate in training relevant to SWA's commitment to providing high quality services. To work at all times with due regard to the policies and procedures of SWA, participating in their development and amendment where required.
