Job Title: Deputy Manager - Residential Children's Home

Location: London

Salary Range: 35000-40000

Hours: Full-Time, [Include Shift Work]

Reports To: Registered Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to support the management and day-to-day operations of our EBD Residential Children's Home. The Deputy Manager will play a key role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and young people, many of whom may have experienced trauma or require specialised care. This role is an opportunity for a motivated leader to help shape the lives of young people, support a talented staff team, and promote the highest standards of care and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support: Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations to ensure the home meets all regulatory standards and provides a high-quality, child-centered service.

Team Leadership: Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Residential Support Workers, ensuring they have clear direction, support, and opportunities for professional growth.

Safeguarding: Ensure all safeguarding policies are strictly followed and that all children are protected from harm. Respond promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

Care Planning: Develop, implement, and review care plans and behaviour management plans to support the individual needs of each young person, in collaboration with social workers and other professionals.

Compliance and Standards: Maintain and exceed the standards set by regulatory bodies, including Ofsted and the Children's Homes Regulations, ensuring the home operates in line with best practices.

Crisis Management: Lead and manage challenging situations or behavioural incidents, supporting both young people and staff while fostering a calm, resilient, and supportive environment.

Family and Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, and other external partners to ensure a holistic approach to each young person's development.

Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits, contribute to internal reviews, and work towards continuous improvement in the quality of care and service delivery.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or equivalent). Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred or a willingness to work toward this qualification.

Experience: Minimum [2-3] years of experience working in a residential children's setting, with at least [1 year] in a supervisory or managerial role.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, trauma-informed care, and relevant regulations (e.g., Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards).
