JOB ROLE



To lead, manage and mentor the care team within the House to ensure that there is a high quality of care delivered at all times in line with Regulatory Body standards and Company policy and procedure.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY



Child/Young Person

Ensure staff participation in a duty Rota that meets the needs of the care home and to fulfil sleep in duties as required in accordance with the needs of the care home

Care for and safeguard all children and young people resident within the home

Ensure that factual, accurate and legible entries are made as per policy on child/young person records/reports

Ensure that staff are working in line with policy and procedure, effectively and safely working with children/young people and supporting/implementing social activity, life skills and independence skills

Ensure that key workers and RCW's have implemented, updated and adhered to all child and young person's plans that are in place (where appropriate)

Provide a positive mentor to the staff team and to work professionally, positively and enthusiastically always

To work with the team to ensure that referrals and applications are made to the relevant persons and within the correct time frames (Reg 40, Safeguarding etc), complete and action all updates and to ensure all reports are updated as per instruction

Liaise where appropriate with relatives, significant others and professionals in a professionals and timely manner

Staff

To accept and participate in monthly supervision with Home Manager

To deliver monthly supervision to the Senior Residential Support Workers as per instruction

Lead and manage the staff team on duty to ensure professionalism always and working In line with Company policy and procedure

Oversee the organisation/delegation of the shift plan/tasks for the day

Report promptly any issues that arise to the relevant/appropriate person, follow up this action to ensure completion

Support staff and ensure their wellbeing and safety always

Supervise where appropriate a full handover at the end of every shift and a full de-brief at the end of every shift

Monitor internal processes to ensure they remain relevant and effective

Issue money where required and ensure that effective management of funds is completed daily, carried over and returns are completed in line with internal procedure

Ensure that staffing levels remain safe and consistent and that deficiencies are addressed immediately and the appropriate person notified

Assist in ongoing development and training of the staffing team

Delegate tasks where appropriate and ensure the completion of these

Attend/chair as per instruction meetings and reviews

Complete annual appraisal of the Senior and care team, return to work interview and probation meetings/induction workbooks

General

Ensure that budgets are adhered to and maintained appropriately

Be vigilant in exercising health and safety and report issues promptly and/or remedy them

Report incident/issues that have arisen during the day promptly to senior management

Always work in line with Company Policy and Procedure with attention to Safeguarding children and young people, Child protection, Whistle blowing and complaints

Work to achieve quality standards as set out by the Regulatory body

Ensure actions are always in the best interest of the child, young person and organisation

Work within and exhibit the Company ethos and values

Conduct yourself at all times in a professional manner to reinforce the positive name of the Company

To carry out all other duties and reasonable requests within your role

Participate in and complete auditing processes

Participate and complete Regulatory and external audits/inspections ensuring these are responded to and communicated to the Home Manager

Act as the responsible manager for the home in her absence

PERSON SPECIFICATION



EXPERIENCE



Relevant experience of working with children and young people/challenging behaviours

Experience of working within a residential setting

Experience of supervising staff in a residential setting

Experience of Regulatory Bodies and inspections

Experience of liaising with external and internal professionals in a timely and professional manner

Experience of working in a residential setting in the absence of the manager

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE



Work as part of a team and independently

Positive and effective management skills

Ability to motivate and engage a staff team and individuals

IT literate

Good time management and organisation

Ability to show resilience

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING



Level 3 CYP Diploma or equivalent

Level 4 in CYP Leadership and Management/equivalent

Level 5 CYP Leadership and Management

Willingness to work towards further qualifications

OTHER



Driving License
