Plymouth City Council is implementing an exciting programme of opening its own Children's Home in Plymouth as part of a wider programme to ensure all children in care experience stable care arrangements and more children are looked after in family homes close to Plymouth,
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to play a key role in this development, who will bring drive, fresh skills and perspectives to lead and develop children's homes for children in Plymouth. The role is be central to an ambitious vision for excellent care. The successful candidate will actively contribute to our collaborative and values-led culture, helping to drive innovation, consistency, quality and the highest standards across our services.
We are committed to ensuring our children's homes improve outcomes for children, supporting them to make a timely transition to family life wherever possible. The Registered Manager will be responsible for a home providing care for 2-3 children aged between 6 and 18 years old. managing all aspects of running an outstanding Children's Home, to ensure young people are cared for, supported, safe with evidence of this embedded in policies and practice. They will understand the importance of stability and love for children and will be active in ensuring that the plan for every child is ambitious and aspirational in order that they may have opportunities to live in the right home at the right time.
The Registered Manager will work closely with local partners to develop comprehensive local provision, providing and encouraging appropriate activities which are stimulating and exciting for children so that children have the very best outcomes. Where appropriate, children and young people will be prepared to move into family homes or more independent life and the home will support their emotional, behavioural, learning and skills needs to ensure that they are well prepared and well supported for this transition.
The Registered Manager will ensure excellent support for every child with a workforce who are well trained, supported, diverse and non-judgemental. They will ensure that the team work in a strengths-based and trauma-informed way with sensitivity to the experiences of young people and knowledge of how this may influence and impact on their behaviours and ability to form attachments.
The manager will need to demonstrate knowledge and competence set out in the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a successful SC2 application within the first 8 weeks of appointment and pass a Fit Person Interview to become registered with Ofsted.
