Registered Manager: Children's Home

Location: Skipton, North Yorkshire

Salary: 45,000 - 60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Service Type: 1-bed Children's Home (New Business)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and motivated Registered Children's Home Manager to lead the opening and development of a new 1-bed Ofsted-registered children's home in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to establish a high-quality, child-centred service from the ground up. The role is ideal for experienced Deputy Managers or Senior Residential Practitioners who are ready to step up into their first Registered Manager position, as well as those who are already established at management level.

The home will provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for a young person with emotional and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager and ensure full regulatory compliance

Lead the mobilisation and setup of the new children's home, including policies, procedures, and operational readiness

Create and maintain a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that promotes positive outcomes.

Recruit, manage, supervise, and develop a small, dedicated staff team.

Ensure high-quality, person-centred care planning and risk management.

Maintain strong safeguarding practices and a culture of continuous improvement
Manage budgets, staffing rotas, and resources effectively.

Build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, professionals, and families.

Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections, striving for Good or Outstanding outcomes.

Essential Requirements:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to complete if appropriate.

Experience at Deputy Manager, Senior Residential Practitioner, or management level within a children's residential setting
Strong working knowledge of the Children's Homes.

Regulations and Quality Standards.

Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs.

Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

Ability to register with Ofsted (or readiness to do so with provider support).

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

Experience setting up or supporting the opening of a new children's home.

Experience working within small or solo-bed services.

Therapeutic or trauma-informed practice experience.
