This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with vulnerable children and young people, providing them with the support and guidance they need to thrive.
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day lives of the children and young people in our care. You will be responsible for providing emotional support, promoting personal development, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Your role will involve working collaboratively with other staff members and external agencies to meet the unique needs of each resident.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct Support: Provide individual and group support to children and young people, helping them to express their feelings and concerns in a safe environment.
- Personal Care: Assist with personal care tasks as needed, respecting the dignity and privacy of each child.
- Activity Planning: Plan and engage children in recreational and educational activities that promote their social skills and personal development.
- Safeguarding: Uphold and promote the safety, well-being, and rights of all children in care, following safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Communication: Maintain clear and open communication with colleagues, management, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for our residents.
- Record Keeping: Complete accurate records of incidents, observations, and any relevant information in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies to help children develop coping skills and promote positive interactions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Management team and other staff members to ensure that the home operates smoothly and that each child's individual care plan is followed.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond effectively to challenging situations, employing de-escalation techniques and maintaining a calm and supportive presence.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in a residential setting or similar environment is preferred.
- A passion for supporting vulnerable young people and advocating for their needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to support.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
- [Optional] Level 3 0r level 5 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
