At Beacon Childcare, we are dedicated to providing safe, nurturing, and high-quality residential care for children and young people. Our 3-bedded EBD home in North Birmingham supports children aged 8-18 who have experienced trauma and present with challenging behaviours.
We are now looking for a committed and resilient
Deputy Manager
to support the Registered Manager in leading the home, supporting staff, and ensuring the children in our care receive the highest possible standard of support.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in both the day-to-day running of the home and in providing direct care to the children. You will support the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance, safeguarding, and staff development, while also leading shifts and acting as a role model to the team.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in the effective running of the home.
Lead and motivate staff to deliver high-quality care and positive outcomes for children.
Ensure safeguarding standards and regulatory compliance are met.
Act as shift leader when required, including undertaking sleep-ins.
Support, mentor, and develop the staff team.
Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and reviews for the children.
Provide a nurturing, structured, and child-centred environment.
About You
NVQ Level 4 in Children's Residential Care (or equivalent) is essential.
Experience working with children and young people aged 8-18 with EBD and challenging behaviours.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and child development.
Previous experience in a senior or shift-leading role within residential childcare.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Flexible to work a mix of shifts, office-based days, and regular sleep-ins.
A resilient, supportive, and child-focused approach.
