The Deputy Manager supports the Residential Home Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the children's residential setting, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of the children. They assist in implementing care plans, managing staff, and maintaining compliance within OFSTED regulations. The Deputy manager will lead shifts and feel confident and comfortable in making decisions in the managers absence.
Key Responsibilities
:
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the residential home.
- Supervise and support all staff, ensuring high standards of care and professional conduct.
- Contribute to the development and review of individual care plans for children.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
- Monitor and improve the well-being and progress of children in placement.
- Ensure adherence to all legal, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations.
- Support staff training, development, and performance appraisals and supervisions.
- Maintain effective communication with children, families, social workers, and external agencies.
- Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and audits as required.
Qualifications & Experience
:
- Relevant childcare qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Children's residential care or equivalent). This is not essential as the company can provide enrolment to the right candidate with enough experience.
- Proven experience working with children in residential or social care settings
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle complex situations.
