Full UK Driving Licence

Required 3 experience in residential childcare

We work with DDP consultants and ensure our team have the training and resources they need to embed this model into everyday working.

We are seeking to appoint Senior Care Practitioners who have QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent, with 3 years residential children's home experience.

This role is a permanent, full time post. Working on shifts throughout the month which will include shift patterns of 2 on 4 days off, to ideally work with your own life balance. These days will include sleep in shifts.

The home is a Crises and Assessment home and the young people we will support will come to us for various reasons.

Reasons that young people may need an assessment include

1. They may have had multiple residential home breakdowns for reasons including, relationship breakdowns, high risk behaviours, unsuitable environments or communities, LA decisions.

2. They may be entering the care system for the first time and there is a need to look at what the best type of care is, fostering, small or larger residential homes

3. They may need higher staffing ratios to be able to stabilise their behaviours and help them to regulate

4. There may be foster care breakdowns and a need to assess the best fostering environment

5. They need a therapeutic assessment of their needs

6. They are leaving secure care and need a stepping down provision into residential living

7. The struggle with attending education provisions and need a tutor to assess learning 1:1 in a classroom setting

Being a bespoke home the staff team required for the Haven also need to be slightly bespoke. The care team need to have all the requirements of a typical residential support worker as well as

1. Be experienced in working with young people with complex trauma

2. Have experience of DDP, PACE and therapeutic working

3. Be able to support young people through dysregulation and crisis periods

4. Be able to support with admissions of young people without transition periods

5. Be quickly able to build relationships with various young people, being adaptable and fun

6. Be effective in reporting and recording, including risk assessments, Care plans and assessment tools including Berri

7. Be able to identify the needs of young people and work within a multi-disciplinary team.

8. Be able to effectively safeguard young people and manage risk taking behaviours well.

The assessment will be done by using

1. The staff teams weekly reports and overview of the young person

2. DDP consultant and child psychologists input from their consultations and reviews

3. Bi-weekly Berri reports to measure emotional stability and progress

4. The care plan reviews and LAC meeting reviews with multi agency input of need

5. Outcome focus future planning

6. Risk levels and impact risk for future care

7. Education needs

8. Therapeutic care need, from the home and also multi agencies.

Main Duties:



To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people and ensure all care practitioners do the same To ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people's needs in day to day practice. Support with tasks within the home such as quality assurance and regulatory visits. Actively promote structure, boundaries and routines within a safe and nurturing environment, being aware of the two hands of parenting. Take responsibility for the effective and efficient running of shifts including the planning and facilitation of activities, daily tasks and health and safety checks. Ensure effective service delivery in line with the policies and procedures of the Home and the Company. To work in accordance with the Children's Homes Regulations and other statutory guidance
