Our children's homes, provide care and accommodation for up to 3 young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. As a family of foster carers, we pride ourselves on specialist training for our carers' who have the skills, insight and strategies to improve outcomes for all our children.



Our carers' understand the effects of early life trauma and respond with empathy using the PACE model. We have a firm but fair approach using boundaries and routine to help our children understand there is consistency and predictability in their lives. Along with this we guide children to make healthy life choices and build their confidence by being consistently available and reliable, earning trust and building positive connections. The home operates in a child centred approach giving children a voice, knowing their thoughts and feelings are heard and matter. This results in our home being a safe haven for our children to work through any past or future issues in a positive way.

5.6 weeks/ 28 days holiday.

Starting from 33,045.00 (including sleep rate).

Rate of pay is negotiable at the interview stage, in line with qualifications and experience.

Hours:- on average 40 hours per week plus sleep ins (65 per sleep).



2 days on, 4 days off rolling rota, to enable work life balance.



Rota given in advance so the team are able to make plans in advance.



Position Overview:

As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care, support, and guidance to children and young people who reside in a residential care setting. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the children under your care, while promoting their personal development and independence. You will work closely with a team of professionals and collaborate with external agencies to create a safe and nurturing environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities:



Care and Support:



Provide daily care and support to children and young people within our residential setting, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.

Establish positive relationships with the children, promoting trust and understanding, and being a reliable source of emotional support.

Assist with personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and other day-to-day activities.

Behaviour Management:



Implement behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviour and promote positive choices and social skills.

Provide guidance and support to children in managing their emotions, resolving conflicts, and making responsible decisions.

Collaborate with colleagues and professionals to develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans when necessary.

Safeguarding and Protection:



Recognise and respond to any issues such as signs of abuse, neglect, or other safeguarding concerns, following established protocols and reporting procedures.

Maintain a safe and secure environment, identifying potential risks and taking appropriate measures to prevent accidents or incidents.

Monitor and document any incidents, accidents, or significant events, reporting them to the appropriate authorities and stakeholders.

Personal Development:



Support children in their educational and personal development, assisting with homework, encouraging participation in extracurricular activities, and promoting lifelong learning.

Foster a positive and inclusive environment that respects diversity and encourages the children's individuality, self-expression, and independence.

Collaborate with external agencies, such as schools, healthcare professionals, and social workers, to ensure the children receive appropriate support and services.

Record Keeping and Reporting:



Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of observations, incidents, progress, and any other relevant information.

Prepare reports, contribute to care plans, and participate in team meetings, sharing information and insights regarding the children's well-being and progress.

Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, organisational policies, and confidentiality guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:



A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient, compassionate, and understanding nature.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with children, colleagues, and external professionals.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.

Knowledge of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.

Experience working in a residential care or similar setting is essential.

Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

A full UK driver's licence.
