Children's Support Worker



An incredible chance has come up to work directly with a joyful and spirited 4-year-old girl with special needs in her family's home. The family are seeking *female children's support workers to enhance and nurture the overall wellbeing of this cheerful little girl. The ideal candidates will be compassionate, dependable, and nurturing.

Our client has cerebral palsy, is visually impaired, uses a wheelchair full-time, and relies on adults to fulfil all of her needs. She delights in interacting with her sensory toys and participating in playtime with peers. She is a cheerful, friendly, and enthusiastic young girl who enjoys having stories read to her, using her therapy tools, laughing, listening to music, and exploring the outdoors. She resides with her parents in their home in Haringey, which is a non-smoking environment. Her parents work closely with the care team, are supportive of all care efforts, and are warm and inviting.

Adults are needed to prepare her meals and administer them through her enteral feeding tube. She also requires daily medication and complete assistance with her personal care. This little girl needs 24/7 care to ensure she is medically well and able to thrive. Support workers are required to support this child to maintain a patent airway at all times.

Hours:



Afternoon/Evenings - 3.15pm - 8.15pm - 5 days per week

There will be opportunities for additional hours and overtime.



Rates of Pay:



Monday - Friday days and nights - 18 per hour

Weekends - 20 per hour

Bank holidays: 1.5 times the usual weekday hourly rate.

Person Specification



Fun, enthusiastic and happy.

Full Clean UK Driving License.

Experience of working with children; ideally children with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and airway management.

Experience of working in a private family home would be beneficial but an appreciation of the sensitivity, respect and privacy of working within a home environment is essential.

Willingness to attend all relevant training sessions and meetings as required.

Willingness to engage and have regular contact with the case manager.

Open to accompanying the family on holiday both in the UK and abroad.

Happy to fulfil some client-related household tasks.

Ability to offer flexibility with working times and hours to help support with periods of sickness or annual leave within the team.

Excellent communication skills including a high standard of written and spoken English and be proficient in record keeping.

Comfortable with basic IT skills.

Ability to keep calm in a stressful environment and responds well to instructions when given.

You should enjoy working alongside others as part of a small team yet also be able to self-direct tasks and activities with our client.

An ability to follow care plans and risk assessments as well as routine plans.

Provide assistance with all of the child's care and observational requirements including personal care, continence care, dressing /undressing and care needs.

To fully support all aspects of the child's ongoing rehabilitation as set out by our child's treating therapists and professionals.

To maintain a safe environment for the child; in the home and in all community-based activities where applicable.

A No smoking policy is strictly in place.
