The Creative Industries New Entrants programme (CINE) is a new initiative which aims to broaden access to the screen and creative industries at entry level. Funded by the Department for Communities and working in partnership with BBC Northern Ireland, the scheme will help identify new talent. In line with UK-wide screen industry initiatives we will prioritise applicants from underrepresented ethnic minority, socio-economic, and disabled communities, to expand our growing creative industries sector and create a more diverse generation of \xe2\x80\x98New Entrants\xe2\x80\x99 of all ages. These opportunities are only available if you are over 18.

One of the two placements are a positive action scheme, exclusively for disabled people, as is allowed for under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA), as amended, in Northern Ireland.

We are looking for two New Entrants to work within the Commercial Rights and Business Affairs (CRBA) department at BBCNI. We are interested to hear from candidates with transferable skills who are seeking a new direction in their career.

Person Spec:
You are interested in the business side of TV and will have good attention to detail with excellent numeracy and literacy skills. You\xe2\x80\x99re a good team player, enthusiastic and responsible. This role would very much suit someone with an interest in legal training \xe2\x80\x93 in the longer term it is possible to train as a lawyer inhouse at the BBC.

What you will be doing:
Although based in Belfast, this role will potentially work across all UK BBC output and so may include travel to other bases, particularly London. You will be rotated across at least two of the following areas within CRBA over a period of 18 months:

  • Commercial Business Development Team
  • Talent Processing and Reporting
  • Production, Events & Talent Contracting
  • Commissioning and Acquisitions
The role will include but is not limited to:
  • Carrying out administrative tasks to ensure that payments are made and contracts are put in place with contributors to BBC TV, Radio and Online.
  • Dealing with queries in relation to contracts and payments
  • Communicating with colleagues, agents and contributors in person, by email and on the phone.
  • Working with Managers to research the commercial market and prepare presentations on powerpoint.
Essential Criteria:
  • A confident communicator.
  • A demonstratable interest in the business side of TV
  • Motivated to learn operational skills and work \xe2\x80\x98behind the scenes\xe2\x80\x99 in broadcasting.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Any previous experience of Business Development
  • Any previous experience of a legal environment
