Contracts & Business Affairs Assistant (12 Month Ftc)

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you organised with great attention to detail? Are you looking to gain some publishing experience within a commercial environment?

We\'re looking for an Assistant to join our busy Contracts and Business Affairs team on a 12-month Fixed Term basis.

About the team

Our Contracts and Business Affairs Department is an integral part of the business and is responsible for the preparation and negotiation of all publishing agreements within the business. The team works across all our Penguin Random House books.

The opportunity

In this exciting role, you\'ll be reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager and ensuring the smooth-running of the team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, checking, and negotiating contracts and managing a wide range of contract requests
  • Processing signed contracts, ensuring contracts are returned to author/agent and maintaining contracts and correspondence files
  • Liaising with colleagues across Editorial and Royalties as the first point of contact for the team
  • Ensuring databases and records are up to date
  • Being involved with projects (for instance, researching terms agreed with a particular agency)
  • Providing general ad hoc administrative support across the team as requested.
What you\'ll bring

This is a great opportunity for someone who is highly organised and looking to take their first steps in a publishing career, with an interest in developing their career within the Contracts and Business Affairs department. You\'ll need excellent word processing skills and the ability to handle and analyse data, as well as a working knowledge of MS Office to do this role well.

We\'ll teach you everything that you need to know to succeed in this role, but you\'ll need to be a good communicator, able to connect with people at all levels. You\'ll learn how to balance a varied workload and know what to prioritise first. An awareness of rights and contracts would be an advantage but not essential.

How to apply

Please apply with your CV and Cover Letter by 23:59 on Tuesday 22nd August.
