The position.
We're looking for a driven
Civil Engineer
to join our team - someone with the curiosity and skill to shape projects from concept through to delivery across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, healthcare, retail, education and industrial.
You'll take ownership of detailed design to meet with design and construction programmes, working closely with other disciplines to coordinate information and ensure seamless integration across the project team. The role and responsibilities.
As a Civil Engineer your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Acting independently to investigate solutions. You will explore options, work closely with partners and peers alike in order to develop and communicate design solutions.
Preparing detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes.
Responding to client requests for information.
Attending design team meetings with clients, other design collaborators, and communicating design ideas through sketches, models and presentations.
Assisting in the production of construction information for issue to contractors.
Coordinating design information with engineers of other disciplines.
With the support of the team leader, providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.
Where appropriate, facilitating and organising meetings and CPD training events to contribute to your own development and the development of others.
Supporting and participating in AKT II's technical agenda.
Day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office.
Attending team meetings with both internal and external disciplines.
Qualifications and experience.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Strong experience in civil engineering design, with expertise in drainage, flood risk and highways.
Required skills.
Proficiency in design and analysis software, particularly Civil 3D; knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D is advantageous.
Experience using InfoDrainage.
Strong understanding of CDM regulations and designer's responsibilities.
Ability to take on responsibility and adapt to challenging situations with confidence and competence.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Experience in designing and delivering structural solutions for major and/or complex projects.
Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
Strong multidisciplinary awareness, ensuring coordinated and integrated design solutions.
A creative, inquisitive, and solution-oriented mindset, with a collaborative and client-focused approach.
Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in traffic assessment and geotechnics (desirable).
