The successful candidate will provide technical direction, mentor engineering teams, and ensure all projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance -- from feasibility through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of site engineers.
Oversee project resourcing, scheduling, and performance reviews.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technical Oversight
Provide expert advice on civil engineering principles, materials, and construction methods.
Ensure designs meet all regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
Review and approve drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Implement innovative technologies and process improvements across projects.
Project Delivery
Manage civil engineering works including roads, drainage, services, and site development.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and authorities.
Monitor project progress and ensure all deliverables meet budget and time constraints.
Financial & Risk Management
Support bid preparation, budgeting, and cost forecasting.
Monitor commercial performance and implement mitigation strategies for project risks.
Contribute to commercial decision-making and value engineering opportunities.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure full adherence to customer and regulatory requirements.
Support ongoing accreditation of ISO standards (ISO9001, ISO14001).
Manage project documentation such as as-built records, quality manuals, and compliance evidence.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in
Civil Engineering
or
Construction Management
(Master's preferred).
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional status desirable.
8+ years' civil engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
Valid
CSCS
and ideally
SMSTS
and
First Aid at Work
.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and project management tools.
Strong commercial awareness with proven budgeting and contract experience.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel to project sites.
