G D Harries is a leading aggregates company based in West Wales, offering an exceptional service within the construction industry. Operating at multi site across West Wales at our quarries, concrete and asphalt plants. In 2020, the company underwent a change of ownership, and now sits within the family of firms at Sigma-Roc Ltd.

Servicing the locality and wider community, we provide materials for construction and highway maintenance, as well as aggregates for domestic customers, and a strong arm of civil engineering.

Overview


Carry out setting out duties on civils site and assist with the running of the project.

Health and Safety



Understanding of the Health & Safety At Work Act & construction health & safety regulations. Maintain standard of high standards of best practice in all relevant areas and promote safe behaviour. Assist with inductions or toolbox talks for all site personnel, visitors, contractors where necessary and maintain records. Appropriate reporting of any near hits, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and incidents through the company Highviz portal. Carry out regular safety inspections of all workplaces within the site. Ensure a safe system of work is in place for all key tasks and activities. Assist with compliance with RAMS, permit to work procedures. Help to promote a safe working environment for all.

Responsibilities



Perform setting out duties on site, either as a lead engineer or assisting a Senior Site Engineer. Provide working levels for the civil team to follow. Set out structures/roads/bridges/foundations/drainage etc as required, provide all other information to allow the works to be constructed in accordance with the works information. Carry out checks on all works to ensure conformity. Carry out as built surveys. Assist the Site Agent/Supervisor in managing all aspects of the project. Using computer modelling software to analyse surveys and mapping data. Keep detailed of site daily progress e.g. weather, resources, deliveries, client instructions, sub-contractors issues, unforeseen conditions. Working on-site in all weathers or in an office. Carry out quality inspections and record.

Essential



+3 years' experience in civil engineering and construction. Previous setting out experience. Surveying & levelling course. Strong IT skills including a high level of competence with ERP Systems and Microsoft packages - Word, Excel and PowerPoint Design skills and knowledge Minimum construction related HND or Degree

Desirable



Masters Degree in Civil Engineering
