Balfour Beatty Living Places has an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-driven Civils Estimator to join our Work Winning Team in Basingstoke.

You'll play a vital role in securing local authority highway contracts, ensuring our bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client requirements.

What you'll be doing




Support the full estimating process to deliver winning tender opportunities for local authority highway works.
Prepare accurate costing sheets by reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Collaborate with operational leads to incorporate efficient delivery methods into pricing strategies.
Work with Senior and Managing Estimators to analyse subcontractor pricing and identify cost-effective solutions.
Develop risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies for pricing submissions.
Produce cost reports and present pricing information to senior management for sign-off
Contribute to tender quality and price submissions, customer queries, and bid presentations.
Support post-tender handover meetings and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Maintain supply chain databases, estimating records, and utilise digital tools for cost take-offs.
Uphold Balfour Beatty's values, focusing on Zero Harm, sustainability, and delivering added value.


Who we're looking for




Proven experience in pricing and estimating within the construction or highways sector.
Strong understanding of risk assessment and cost planning principles.
Proficient in estimating software, Excel, and other MS Office tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - a true collaborator.
Professional qualifications (RICS, CIOB, ICE, etc.) are advantageous.
A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
