Claims Manager - 7+ pqe

Leading a mutual insurance company that provides professional indemnity cover to numerous firms within the built environment including several high-profile names requires a new Claims Manager with a strong background of defending professional indemnity claims against architects, chartered engineers, surveyors, or other professional disciplines such as solicitors. Our client insures a significant proportion of the leading firms of commercial architects in the UK. Its membership consists of many award-winning practices passionate about the built environment, designing landmark projects both in the UK and internationally.

Our client provides a broad range of services that include a comprehensive review of Members\' appointments and ancillary documents, claims handling, underwriting and risk management for Members. The role is responsible for liaising with Members in respect of claims, handling of professional indemnity claims against construction professionals, attending meetings, mediations, hearings etc with Members and solicitors as well as providing liability advice to members. You will be joining a team of 17 solicitors and legal executives. Together you will assist Members to be appointed on terms falling within their cover and handle any resulting claims.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Handling claims and reporting to claims directors/Legal Affairs Director
• Liaison with Members in respect of claims.
• Claims reserving in line with the Wren Procedures Manual.
• Regular re-estimation of claims.
• Identifying issues of coverage/late notification for consideration with claims directors/Legal Affairs Director.
• Attending meetings, mediations, hearings etc with Members and solicitor.
• Proving liability advice to members
• Instructing and managing the input of external legal and expert advisers engaged on Claims.

Reporting to the Claims and Risk Management Director, you will currently be working either at a leading law firm with experience of defending professional indemnity claims against constructions professionals or working in-house at an insurance company and keen for a new challenge. Candidates with experience of defending professional indemnity claims for other professional disciplines will also be strong considered. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in the office with Tuesdays and Thursdays being compulsory.
