The Role:
Support and evolve mission critical insurance and reinsurance software to support the Aspen strategy. Leads all phases of solution development on Guidewire Claimcenter platform. Our Aspen Values are expected to be reflected in the delivery and performance of every role.

Key Accountabilities:
Strategy and Planning

  • Support our transition to a modular/service-based cloud architecture aligning to our tech strategy
  • Contributes to functional strategy development and prioritises the operational deliverables and activities of team to support delivery of overall business targets.
  • Assist Claims delivery lead to define and manage priorities, technical strategies for modernization, and operational standards across the organization.
  • Manages tactical plan and provides support to others to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy.
Policy, Process and Procedures
  • Work in close partnership with the Head of Engineering to create and manage consistent standards and practices across Aspen\'s development practice
  • Ensures that the application tech stack is reliable and secure.
  • Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members.
  • Translates business specifications into design specifications.
  • Ensures that all is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve Aspen\'s tech stack to increase employee productivity, efficiency, and satisfaction.
  • Ensures that control reports and risk dashboards are developed and maintained for the IT function, to support timely and appropriate decision-making and action.
  • Manages the level of service availability delivered to ensure service matches, or exceeds, the current and future needs of the business.
  • Identifies/supports continuous improvement and step-change opportunities, to increase cost effectiveness and/or infrastructure flexibility.
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
  • Delivers a cost-effective IT service to contribute to Aspen\'s profitability and business performance.
  • Participate in both large- and small-scale projects for the design, transition, and operational activities associated with the delivery of new or existing IT services to the user community.
  • Build trusting, productive, and sustainable relationships and partnerships with customers to allow IT to deliver maximum value in the services offered across the IT service portfolio.
