Job Purpose

The Class 1 "Floater" Driver provides flexible driving support across all departments, routes, and shifts as required. This role is essential to maintaining service levels, covering holidays, sickness, peak demand, and urgent operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operate all classes of vehicle up to and including

Class 1 (C+E) vehicles

safely and professionally across various routes and depots Provide cover for planned and unplanned driver absences Carry out trunking, network deliveries, RDC work, or customer deliveries as required Ensure full compliance with

Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects in line with company procedures Secure loads correctly and ensure safe loading/unloading practices Maintain accurate records, including defect reports, delivery paperwork, and digital PODs Deliver high standards of customer service when dealing with clients and site staff Adapt quickly to different vehicles, routes, customers, and working environments

Skills & Experience

Minimum

2 years Class 1 (C+E) driving experience

Experience with a variety of trailers (curtain sider, box, fridge) Strong geographical knowledge of UK road networks Ability to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and nights out if required Reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently
