Job Description

We are a small company looking for a Class 1 driver to deliver freight & heavy loads safely and efficiently throughout the UK. The shifts start between 5.30am and 8am until delivery finish. Working days are Monday till Friday inclusive. Weekend and overnight work is arranged by mutual agreement. Working for a small company, flexibility with some days when required is essential. We also need drivers who are flexible to drive smaller vehicles during the quiet season when necessary.

Good communication skills, good organisation and a positive outlook are necessary for this role, with a calm and professional manner under pressure. Patience is also sometimes necessary when waiting to be loaded.

The main duties are listed below:

Job Duties:

Driving HGV Class One vehicles in compliance with the Highway Code and all other regulatory standards, driving to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Completing multi drop deliveries and collections. Communicating in a calm and professional manner to clients and colleagues Keeping and submitting accurate records of deliveries and customer authorisation, including signing off jobs electronically. Communicating with office to update any issues and communicates with customers to ensure safe and efficient working practices. To plan and follow a safe and efficient route. Maintaining vehicle in a clean, safe and road worthy condition by completing and recording daily walk round checks and informing any defects to the transport office and management. Safely load and unload the vehicle. Checks freight/load before departure and comply with Civil Aviation rules and regulations. Download tacho on a weekly basis. Wears correct PPE during duty. Updates job knowledge by participating in training.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Able to provide a full 5 year history for security clearance

Clean UK Driving Licence with no disqualifications within the last 3 years

Driver Qualification Card - CPC Periodic Training

Driver Digital Tachograph Card

Ability to communicate in both spoken and written English

Willingness to provide details for 5 year background check and Basic DBS clearance.

Desirable

Interest in obtaining ADR (Dangerous Goods) training and/or Lorry Lifting for future development.

Pay: From 15.50 per hour
