Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Class 2 Driver to join an independently owned company based in Leicester. In return, we offer a competitive hourly pay rate, manual handling training, forklift training, safe loading and unloading training and supplied clothing and PPE.

We have been established in the Leicester area for over 30 years and provide medium and small plant hire and site sales to over 200 customers. We have a well-respected reputation throughout the Midlands for reliability, service, and extensive knowledge.

The Class 2 Driver is a very demanding role that will involve manual work and lifting whilst delivering and collecting plant and materials Nationwide, with the occasional overnight stay. The Class 2 driver will report directly to the transport office ensuring efficient management of the deliveries / collections.

The Class 2 Driver's role will involve:

Delivering / collecting plant machinery nationwide on time and in a professional manner

Experience fastening loads with straps/chains

Completing the associated paperwork accurately

Promote company image

Comply with company rules

To correctly operate the company vehicle as instructed and ensure it is kept in good order

To report any traffic violations/speeding offences to the management

Ensure that the Tachograph is completed regularly and correctly

To visually check and record the condition of equipment collected and inform the customer, the plant department and foreman fitter of any damage

Ensure that the groups health, safety & environmental policies are adhered to

Reporting any discrepancies to the Transport Manager

The essential criteria for the Class 2 Driver are:

Category C driving entitlement

IPAF, Crane Lorry Loader and Safe Loading & Unloading (desirable but not essential)

Driver's Digital Tacho Card

CPC Card

Sound knowledge of UK roads

Plant hire / construction background and multi drop driving experience is an advantage.

The hourly pay rate is negotiable.

The hours of work are between Monday to Friday, 7.30am-5.30pm with 30-minute lunch break. Minimum 42.5 hours per week.
