What You Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role you will need to:
Be a qualified teacher (QTS) with a genuine passion for working with pupils with complex learning needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD) and autism (ASC).
Have experience of, or a strong commitment to developing expertise in, supporting children with significant communication, sensory, physical, and medical needs.
Demonstrate resilience, empathy, and a positive, caring approach in all interactions.
Be highly organised and skilled in planning personalised, engaging, and differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of each learner.
Be an outstanding classroom practitioner who can create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment that supports learning through sensory and experiential approaches.
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and families, to ensure holistic development for every pupil.
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
Be reflective, adaptable, and willing to develop your knowledge and practice in special education, particularly in communication, sensory integration, and assistive technology.
Share the school's commitment to inclusion, teamwork, and ensuring every child reaches their full potential within a safe, stimulating, and caring environment.
