At Thornborough Infant School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We ensure that all staff, governors and volunteers have a full and active part in protecting our pupils from harm. We recognise that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children is paramount and the responsibility of our whole school community.
To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers' suitability. We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
All staff and volunteers are given clear guidance in how to behave and work with children and young adults. They are highly vigilant and they are required to report instances of actual or suspected child abuse or neglect to the Designated Safeguarding Leads. These staff members have been specifically trained and nominated as Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) within the school.
Our Safeguarding Policy applies to all adults including volunteers working in or on behalf of our school. It is a document that demonstrates how everyone in our school, shares the objective to help keep children safe from harm. The Policy can be found on the website and a paper copy from the School Office. If you want to know more about our policies and procedures, please speak to the Headteacher.
