Role Purpose

To provide a high standard of cleaning throughout the dental practice, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and control. The role ensures that the practice environment is safe, hygienic, and welcoming for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out daily cleaning of all clinical and non-clinical areas, including surgeries, decontamination rooms, waiting areas, reception, toilets, staff rooms, and offices. Follow the practice's

infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols

in line with CQC and HTM 01-05 guidance. Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment, ensuring safe storage and handling of all cleaning materials (COSHH compliance). Empty bins regularly, ensuring general waste is disposed of according to practice policy. Undertake scheduled deep cleaning tasks as required (e.g., dental chairs, floors, skirting boards, windows, high-touch surfaces). Report any maintenance or cleanliness concerns to the Practice Manager. Maintain cleaning logs/checklists as evidence of compliance with CQC requirements. Ensure confidentiality and respect for patients and staff at all times.

Essential Requirements

Previous cleaning experience (healthcare or dental environment preferred). Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and a high standard of work.

Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) required.

Valid proof of identification (ID) required.

Desirable

Experience working in a dental or healthcare setting. Understanding of CQC standards and HTM 01-05 guidance. Basic training in COSHH and infection control (training can be provided).
