Job Description

Plan, organise and monitor the work of cleaning staff to ensure that the cleaning process within the school premises meets appropriate standards.

Carry out cleaning duties.

Carry out induction and skills training including refresher training.

Liaise with the Administrator on day to day issues related to cleaning.

In consultation with the Administrator, deal with any matters arising in respect of the cleaning provision.

Ensure that adequate supplies of material are requisitioned and maintained at appropriate levels within the budget allocated.

Ensure that equipment is kept in good condition, used and stored correctly.

Monitor the suitability and performance of materials and equipment and advise the Administrator where these are inappropriate for the task.

Recommend and implement changes in work procedures in consultation with the Administrator to improve economy, standards or ease of operation.

Under the direction of the Administrator, carry out risk assessment procedures.

Plan periodic work in advance of school closures.

Organise cleaning arrangements in respect of school functions.

Ensure that all records in respect of staff attendance, holidays and absence are completed, authorised and returned to the office in good time.

Maintain records of consumable stocks and inventory of equipment.

Prepare/set up for school events.

Any other duties as requested by the Principal/Administrator.

All duties must be carried out to comply with:

The Health & Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978

Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments and regulations and other legal requirements

The COSHH Regulations

Codes of Practice

All duties will be carried out in the working conditions normally inherent in the particular job.

Cover colleagues on sick leave.

Absence must be reported in accordance with the school's procedure.

When carrying out cleaning duties, protective clothing or work wear issued must be worn.

Flat-soled enclosed-toe footwear should be worn when carrying out cleaning duties.

Any cleaning equipment issued must be used and cared for in an appropriate and safe manner, with defects being reported immediately.

All necessary paperwork must be completed.

Duties will be carried out for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided that such duties are within the competence of the employee.

Training



Employees will accept any training to facilitate the undertaking of duties for jobs up to and including their own grade.

Employees will accept training for jobs graded at higher levels than their own. Payment will only be made where there is a requirement by the school for the higher level duties to be carried out.

Child Protection



Employees must adhere to the Child Protection guidelines in the school's policy.

6. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am - 5.30 pm

Pay: 27,269.00-28,624.00 per year
