We are searching for a reliable and competent clerk of works to join a busy traditional Estate team in Charlestown, Fife. The role will focus on implementing and delivering maintenance, compliance & improvements across the Estate portfolio including traditional farmhouses and cottages, small-scale commercial properties and the wider estate including agricultural land, pathways, private road network. Improvement works will be undertaken in line with the Estate strategy combined with wider government targets including energy performance upgrades.
The role will involve working together with the Estate Factors & Estate workers.
Responsibilities
Specify repairs & improvements across property portfolio and general estate, Instructing estate workers and third-party contractors when necessary.
Instruct, inspect & sign-off compliance works as required
Inspect & monitor completed works, ensuring completion to expected standard.
Co-ordinate and review quotes from third party contractors
Manage H&S of all instructed works including construction phase plans & CDM compliance
Responsible to instruct works up to an agreed value without additional authorisation
Sign off invoices for completed works
Work within a property maintenance budget
Assist with schedule preparation of planned maintenance and repairs
Accompany property inspections
Liaise with contractors on snagging
Shared monitoring & management of capital projects with Estate Factor.
Liaise with statutory stakeholders to ensure that all works are compliant with necessary permissions
Supervising Estate workers and third-party contractors on site
Management of Estate tools & materials including vehicles by co-ordinating repairs, services etc
E
xperience & Skill
Essential
Experience in the maintenance & monitoring of a mixture of property types, including traditional constructions & conservation
Excellent organisational and prioritising ability
Excellent communication skills
Eye for detail
Positive and pro-active approach with ability to work as a team and as an individual
Full clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Desirable
Practical experience in one or more trades
Schedule
The schedule for the role has not been finalised, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate. The position is part-time, ranging from 14 to 21 hours per week. It is expected that these hours will be spread across five days with shorter shifts or concentrated into two or three days with longer working hours.

Pay: 14,000.00-22,000.00 per year
