The Role
:
We are seeking a well-organised, professional, and discreet Clerk to the Board of Governors to support our governing body. The Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Board, providing administrative and procedural support and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
:
Prepare agendas and collate supporting documents in consultation with the Chair and Headteacher
Attend and take accurate minutes of approximately 5 full governing board meetings per academic year
Provide procedural and regulatory advice to the Board as required
Maintain records of meeting attendance, membership, and policies
Ensure the governing body operates in accordance with legal and statutory requirements
Person Specification:
Previous experience as a Clerk or in a similar governance support role (preferred)
Excellent organisational, communication, and minute-taking skills
Strong understanding of governance procedures and confidentiality
Ability to work independently and flexibly
Familiarity with the education sector, particularly special education, is desirable but not essential
Familiarity with governance or willingness to undertake training
Safeguarding and Child Protection:
Inaura School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check. Safeguarding and child protection training will be provided as part of the induction process.
Terms:
This is a part-time, flexible role paid on a per-meeting basis (including preparation and follow-up time).
Meetings are usually held at our Burrowbridge Learning Centre on a Wednesday from 4pm.
