We are a leading UK-wide and international practice, recruiting for a position for our Edinburgh office, with a growing reputation for supporting commercial enterprises and not-for-profit organisations, charities, and trusts. As part of our growth plan, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Client Manager to oversee a mixed portfolio of limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, LLP's, small charities and Trusts.
The opportunity
Responsible for managing a portfolio of small charities, Trusts, limited companies, sole traders and partnerships utilising the ABAS team to provide accountancy and administrative services, including annual accounts preparation, bookkeeping/banking oversight, and independent examinations. In addition, you will arrange and review grant claim verification work.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of commercial enterprises and charity clients.
Plan, arrange and review the preparation of annual accounts (charities, trusts, limited companies, sole traders, partnerships - including annual accounts for subsequent audit)
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients outsourcing their finance functions.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their business goals and tailoring financial solutions accordingly.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of outsourced finance services - utilising our team of Seniors and Assistants - including reporting, compliance, and decision-making support.
Conduct Independent Examinations in line with charity regulations.
Attend/Hold Trustees meetings and report to Trustees on small Trust clients, as well as support the preparation and processing of trust documentation, including Gift Aid claims and statutory filings.
Administer and prepare claims for grant funding (e.g., Innovate UK, Scottish Enterprise).
Administer and assist with bursary applications
Liaise directly with clients, offering advice and support as needed.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their goals and tailoring financial solutions accordingly
Work with internal teams to ensure high standards of service delivery and client satisfaction.
Supervise and mentor junior staff involved in outsourced finance and advisory services.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
Delegate tasks effectively to ensure the highest level of service delivery to clients.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a practice environment in similar role (
Solid understanding of accounting and regulatory frameworks.
Experience conducting Independent Examinations.
Strong bookkeeping skills, including experience with cloud-based software (e.g., Xero)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities efficiently.
Experience of preparation of accounts under FRS102(FRS102 1A), FRS 105
Desirable:
Experience preparing Innovate UK or Scottish Enterprise grant claims.
Working knowledge of trust administration.
Prior experience working with charities and trusts
Experience in mentoring and training
