Role Purpose
The Client Support Advisor will play a crucial role in providing Open Door's service to Taunton's homeless community, helping to reduce rough sleeping and providing essential daily support. Reporting to the Charity Manager, the post holder will be responsible for having direct contact with the client base. The role involves assessing individual needs, developing a personalised approach to meet their needs and, where possible, help clients transition into stable housing. The postholder will work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including statutory and non-statutory agencies, external providers, and support services, to ensure a coordinated approach to addressing rough sleeping and homelessness. This role requires a compassionate and proactive individual who can build trust with vulnerable populations and advocate for their needs. The Client Support Advisor will assist clients with any practical needs such as laundry, clothing, handling mail, messages, and phone charging.
The post holder will work closely with the Manager and other members of our small team of staff and volunteers. The role requires an individual who is committed to the aims of the charity and who is flexible and co-operative in their attitude to working styles and practices.
Accountabilities
Assess the needs of clients.
Provide direct support and advocacy to help clients access housing, healthcare, and other essential services.
Work closely with statutory and non-statutory services and support services to coordinate efforts and resources.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress.
Participate in multi-agency meetings and case conferences to discuss and plan interventions.
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
Provide regular reports to the Manager on the progress and outcomes of interventions.
Knowledge
Essential
Understanding of homelessness and rough sleeping issues.
Familiarity with safeguarding practices and procedures.
Knowledge of mental health and substance misuse issues.
Understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Knowledge of housing legislation and policies.
Awareness of local support services and resources.
Experience

Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing homelessness.

This role involves working within a dynamic and supportive environment. Candidates should be prepared for the following conditions:
Work Hours: Standard working hours are 25 paid hours Monday to Friday, 9am -2.30pm including a half hour rest break for lunch each day. (Optional 8.30am start)
