Job Description

OVERVIEW



The Climate Engagement Officer is a key role, planning and ensuring the successful delivery of community engagement and peaceful change activities, primarily as part of the 'Artitude: Climate, Culture, Circularity' project. Working closely and collaboratively with the Climate Action Programmes Manager as part of the Producing Team at The Playhouse and with project partners, the successful candidate will primarily support the organisation and delivery of longer-term, socially engaged arts projects led by communities throughout the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. These place-based projects will engage people in positive change on a range of climate action issues.

We are looking for someone dynamic, highly organised and with excellent community engagement and communication skills. You will have a passion for theatre, music and the arts and experience of delivering collaborative and meaningful community projects. You will be committed to contributing to social change through the arts, with a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy, a common-sense approach to problem solving and a willingness to learn new skills.

The post is a 2 year, fixed term full time contract (with possibility of extension)

Key Responsibilities



Project Planning & Delivery:



Support the Climate Action Programmes Manager in delivering Artitude and Fair Play Kenya. Engage local communities in artist-led, climate-focused events. Ensure all activity is sustainable, accessible, and safe, following best practice. Assist with contracting, procurement, invoicing, and risk assessments. Help plan and deliver festivals and events. Coordinate monitoring, evaluation, and marketing with relevant teams.

Project Liaison & Relationship Building:



Build and maintain partnerships across community, climate, and arts sectors. Expand networks and manage contacts via the CRM system. Collaborate effectively with artists, staff, and partners. Represent The Playhouse and promote Artitude.

General:



Uphold values of inclusion, sustainability, and community empowerment. Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and data protection. Work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends (TOIL provided). Support wider Playhouse activities as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months

Pay: 26,000.00-29,000.00 per year
