Climate Bonds Initiative is seeking a
Sales Manager
to lead and expand our commercial sales function. You'll manage a small team (yourself and one Sales Executive), develop and execute sales strategies, and drive revenue growth across a suite of high-impact products and services.
What You'll Be Selling
Our commercial offerings are well-regarded by clients but underexposed in the market. You'll be responsible for increasing visibility and uptake such as:
Sustainable bond databases
and data products
Certification services
for green and sustainable finance instruments
Sponsored research and events
Climate Bonds Network memberships
for financial institutions and key market participants
This is a high-profile role with direct engagement across the global sustainable finance ecosystem--including banks, asset managers, and institutional investors.

Who You Are
Experienced in
B2B sales
in financial services, fintech, or data/SaaS
Comfortable selling to senior stakeholders in banks, asset managers, and institutional investors
A confident communicator and relationship builder
Motivated by sustainability and the opportunity to make a difference
Ready to lead, coach, and grow a small team
Duties and responsibilities:
Lead & Deliver
: Be both strategist and seller--drive your own sales while coaching and managing a Sales Executive to hit team targets.
Strategic Sales Execution:
Design and implement sales strategies that align with growth priorities and deliver measurable results.
Client Engagement
: Identify, qualify, and close new business with institutional investors, banks, and other key market players.
Trusted Advisor
: Guide clients on integrating Climate Bonds' standards, data, and certification services into their operations.
Account Growth
: Collaborate with Client Support to uncover cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing accounts.
Market Presence
: Maintain high activity levels through calls, virtual meetings, and in-person visits--primarily in London, with occasional travel to financial hubs like New York, Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam.
CRM Discipline:
Keep accurate records of client interactions, contracts, and pipeline progress.
Cross-functional Collaboration
: Work closely with Product, Legal, Finance, and Client Support to ensure seamless client experiences.
Feedback Loop
: Capture client insights to inform product development and future service offerings.
Campaign Leadership
: Drive targeted outreach campaigns in partnership with Marketing and client-facing teams.
Product Mastery
: Continuously deepen your expertise in Climate Bonds' data products, certification schemes, and methodologies.
Onboarding Partner
: Support smooth transitions from sale to service by partnering with Client Support during onboarding.
Adapt & Evolve:
Embrace change--products, territories, client segments, and sales metrics may shift as the business grows, and the industry evolves. Additional duties may be assigned as needed, in line with the expectations of a managerial role.
Requirements
Essential:
3+ years of b2b sales experience
2+ years of management experience
8+ years of work experience
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities in English and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations and build long-term client relationships.
Strong client servicing, consultative sales, and overall strong commercial skills.
Genuine interest in sustainable investing
Located within commuting distance to London and travel for the day to London several times per month
Travel quarterly to other financial cities in region (at present region is UK, EU)
Travel annually to Canada and USA
Desirable:
Bachelor's degree in a field related to the role, CFA or other financial industry qualifications are useful
5 years of b2b sales experience
3+ years of data sales experience
2+ years of sustainable finance experience
1+ years of Sales Management Experience
Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across product and sales teams
Additional business languages a bonus
