Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Band 6 Clinical Lead to join our Dementia Assessment Unit within the Specialist Older People's Inpatient Services. This is a pivotal leadership role supporting older adults living with dementia who require specialist assessment, therapeutic intervention, and high?quality, person?centred care.



As a Clinical Lead, you will provide expert clinical oversight, leadership, and professional guidance to the multidisciplinary team. You will ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care delivery, supporting both the clinical environment and the development of staff. You will act as a role model for excellence in dementia care, promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing for every individual in our service.

Key Responsibilities

Provide advanced clinical leadership in dementia care, behavioural support, and complex needs. Lead decision?making, risk assessment, and care planning. Deliver specialist assessments, therapeutic interventions, and ensure person?centred, trauma?informed care. Educate and train staff to build dementia expertise and confidence.



Team Leadership

Offer daily clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship. Support induction, reflective practice, and staff wellbeing. Deliver teaching, coaching, and promote continuous development.



Care Oversight & Governance

Maintain high standards of personal care, nutrition, mobility, and dignity. Lead clinical observations, escalation, safeguarding, and risk management. Ensure compliance with policies, CQC standards, and best practice.



End?of?Life Care

Guide compassionate, dignified care, support families, and implement personalised plans.



Coordination & Communication

Oversee admissions, discharges, documentation, and liaise with families and external teams. Act as key contact, promoting clear, compassionate communication.



Quality & Flexibility

Ensure accurate records, lead audits, and drive service improvement. Provide leadership across wards as needed.

Registered Nurse (MH/LD), experienced in dementia care, confident in leadership, skilled in communication, and committed to person?centred care.
