We are seeking an experienced Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team within a university-based clinic. This pivotal post involves managing a personal patient caseload, leading and supporting a team of physiotherapists and practice educators and overseeing the clinical education of physiotherapy students. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with the Podiatry Clinical Lead to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the clinic.


As Clinical Lead the post holder will ensure the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based physiotherapy services at the University of Northampton clinic. They will lead the development and oversight of the physiotherapy service, contribute to the strategic expansion of student-led clinics, and uphold the highest standards of clinical governance, quality, and accountability.


They would Identify opportunities for service innovation, research, staff development and inter-professional collaboration.

About you




You will be an experienced and forward-thinking HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with a clinical background and expertise in musculoskeletal conditions and/or other relevant specialist areas. You will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, evidence-based care within a multidisciplinary team, alongside a clear passion for clinical education, student supervision, and service development in an academic setting.


This post is a unique opportunity to help shape and grow a university-based physiotherapy clinic from the ground up. You will play a key role in establishing clinical pathways, embedding robust governance systems, and developing a high-performing team to support both patient care and student learning. Your entrepreneurial mindset, combined with your clinical leadership, will be vital in building a sustainable, innovative, and student-led service.


You will bring excellent mentoring and supervisory experience, with the ability to support practice educators, graduate physiotherapists, and students in a dynamic clinical learning environment. A thorough understanding of clinical governance, audit, and quality assurance processes is essential, along with the ability to use data to inform decision-making and drive service improvement.


You'll be a confident and collaborative leader, ready to work across disciplines to enhance patient care, develop integrated services, and contribute to the strategic vision for clinical education within the university. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are key to success in this pivotal and rewarding post.


Qualifications/Membership




Essential:




Degree in Physiotherapy Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

Desirable:




Masters in Physiotherapy Qualification in practice education/mentorship/clinical supervision/teaching
