The Matron for Paediatrics will lead and co-ordinate the operational delivery of care for children and young people aged 0-18 years, within the Family and Specialised Services (FASS) Division of the RUH, Bath. In addition to this, the post holder will support the Trustwide Lead Nurse for Paediatrics to deliver the strategic vision for Paediatric Services within FASS.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a high standard in clinical practice is developed and maintained to maximise patient experience, safety and quality of service. This will result in the delivery of quality clinical care within the paediatric departments in FASS, including the Children's Ward, Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), Paediatric Ambulatory Care (PAC), Outpatients and Specialist Nursing Teams.
The post holder will provide strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of skill, knowledge and credibility to offer the support, advice and guidance required by staff to ensure delivery of safe, high-quality and compassionate care to patients, families and carers. This will be achieved in alignment with the Trust's Strategic Vision and Values and Behaviours.
As an expert clinical leader, the post holder will act as a resource and role model for the paediatric teams and will be responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment and culture, in which the fundamentals of care are delivered effectively to all patients, families and carers, with consideration given to individual needs and wishes.
The post holder will actively seek patient and family feedback, ensuring it is captured and acted upon in a timely way, to enable the voice of the child to be heard.
