Job Description

The Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management will be expected to support the pain service and act as a clinical expert and professional resource to the professional team, and patients within the service.



The post holder will be required to be accountable and responsible for the management of patients within their care and to work in close collaboration with the lead clinician within established guidelines and protocols.



The applicant should be a registered adult nurse educated to first degree in a health related subject.



The postholder will be responsible for the following:



To manage a caseload of patients with acute and chronic pain



To provide highly specialist advice on pain management



Act as a resource for health care professionals



To understand PCA, Epidurals and Nerve blocks



To undertake daily specialist ward rounds



To provide holistic assessments, plan and conduct pain treatments



To act as an advocate for patients



To participate and contribute in meetings



To be a skilled communicator and be able to work in a team
