About Oxford CBT

Oxford CBT is a well-established, independent psychological therapy service committed to delivering warm, compassionate, evidence-based care for adults, children and families. With clinics in Oxford, Birmingham and Reading, we are proud to offer not only high-quality CBT interventions for common mental-health difficulties (such as anxiety, low mood and sleep problems) but also specialist neurodevelopmental assessment and support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In our neurodevelopmental arm, we support both children and adults through screening, full diagnostic assessments, tailored post-diagnostic recommendations and therapeutic follow-up. Our approach is person-centred and collaborative -- we understand that people with neurodevelopmental differences deserve clarity, understanding and support that goes beyond diagnosis.

We are passionate about making high-quality psychological and neurodevelopmental support accessible, and our team is united by shared values of empathy, professionalism and care.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced and compassionate clinician - either a HCPC-registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or a BABCP-accredited CBT Therapist - to join our Birmingham clinic, working with both adults and children. You will deliver high-quality therapy, engage in assessments where relevant, and contribute to the growth of our neurodevelopmental service in Birmingham.

Your work will include delivering CBT and other evidence-based interventions for a range of difficulties; conducting assessments and formulations; collaborating with families, referrers and GPs; maintaining clinical records; and, where appropriate, being involved in the assessment and support of neurodevelopmental conditions.

Career Progression - Service Lead Pathway

For the right person, this role can develop into Birmingham Service Lead:

Help build and shape the Birmingham clinic's offering in neurodevelopmental and therapy services. Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of a growing team of clinicians. Contribute to service design, quality assurance and local partnerships. Play a key role in ensuring Birmingham becomes a welcoming hub for both therapy and neurodevelopmental assessment -- supporting people across the region with empathy and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide skilled, evidence-based therapy (primarily CBT) to adults and children, adapting approaches to individual needs. Undertake assessments, develop formulations and treatment plans, and monitor progress. Communicate clearly and sensitively with clients, families, referrers and GPs. Maintain accurate, timely clinical records, upholding confidentiality and safeguarding standards. Neurodevelopmental component (if applicable): Conduct ADHD and/or Autism assessments, write diagnostic reports, deliver feedback and post-diagnostic recommendations. Support ongoing service development, including referral pathways and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Essential Criteria

HCPC registration (Clinical or Counselling Psychologist) or BABCP accreditation as a CBT Therapist. Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience delivering therapy to adults and children. Strong formulation, assessment, communication and organisational skills. Commitment to evidence-based practice, safeguarding and professional standards. Warm, compassionate, professional approach and ability to work flexibly and autonomously.

Desirable Criteria

Experience or training in ADHD and/or Autism assessments and post-diagnostic support. Experience in private practice or independent therapy services. Experience supervising or mentoring others, or an interest in service development and leadership. Experience working with families, schools or community services supporting neurodivergent individuals.

What We Offer

Competitive self-employed pay rates 60 - 80 per session and flexible scheduling to suit your work-life balance. A friendly, values-driven team with strong clinical and administrative systems. Opportunities for CPD and professional growth. Autonomy and the opportunity to help shape and expand services in Birmingham. Clear pathway to become Birmingham Service Lead, building a team and growing the service to support the local community.
