Technical Strategy & Operations



This new full-time post (36.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri on a rota basis) covering a secondment, is available from 26/01/2026 until 04/12/2026.

Summary of the role:



The post is available within the University Technical Strategy and Operations team located at the Clinical Skills Resource Centre, Heavitree Hosiptial, St Luke's Campus.

The primary function of this role is to provide technical support for the teaching activities of the College and Medicine and Health within the Clinical Skills Resource Centre (CSRC) and simulated nursing ward at the Heavitree hospital site.

The role holder will work in conjunction with teaching staff and other members of the Technical Strategy and Operations team in delivering a safe and efficient working environment for teaching of undergraduate students.

The Clinical Skills Technician will work with the Technical Operations Manager to oversee and organise the BMBS programme requirements. The role holder will guide and work with the Clinical Skills Assistant Technicians to provide essential hands-on support for the practical skills-based learning of undergraduate students within the simulated Nursing Ward and Clinical Skills Resource Centre.

The role holder will be responsible for training on new equipment, Health and Safety of resources provided and creating Standard Operating Procedures where applicable.

We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who will provide professional technical support to staff and postgraduate students in an education environment consisting of a simulated Hospital setting. You must be able to work independently, using your initiative to tackle any problems, whilst having the confidence to work collaboratively with technical staff in the Clinical Skills Resource Centre plus other teams within the Medical School and across the University.

This role requires movement of some larger pieces of medical equipment meaning a good use of manual handling. Training and support will be provided.

We provide full specialist training and, for the right candidate an opportunity for further training or working towards a Professional Registration.

The Clinical Skills Resource Centre Technical Strategy and Operations team work on a flexible rota system between 8am - 7pm.
