Job Description

We are seeking a permanent 0.6WTE (22.5hrs) Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist specialising in Neuro-splinting and casting.
This exciting opportunity would be suitable for a highly skilled Occupational Therapist with proven Neurological Rehabilitation skills and experience in the assessment, fabrication and provision of bespoke neurological splints. You will also be operationally responsible for the MDT spasticity and neurosplinting service and have responsibility for the development and supervision of more junior staff and students. You will also be part of the senior leadership team in within Specialist Rehabilitation.
You will sit within the Spasticity Team, Specialist Rehabilitation and Therapies Business Unit and be managed by and receive supervision from the Operational Lead, Specialist Rehabilitation.
As an integral part of the Spasticity and neurosplinting multidisciplinary team you will have clear links internally with inpatient neuro rehab teams (Kings Lodge and Stroke) as well as the outpatient therapy teams in Specialist Rehab, ensuring both peer and professional support is available from various sources.
Main duties of the job
To be the clinical lead for Neurological Splinting and Casting within Specialist Rehabilitation and facilitate development of teaching and competencies across the Trust.
To be an integral part of the senior clinical team within the speciality and to represent Specialist Rehabilitation at management level concerning issues affecting the service.
To take a lead role in the operational management of the OT and PT team within this speciality in the Trust.
To work alongside Clinical Specialists to lead and co-ordinate the Therapy and multi-disciplinary teams to meet National and Trust organisational targets and standards.
To provide advanced specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment of patients with neurological conditions who may have diverse presentations and complex needs, in a variety of clinical settings.
To ensure that Neurological Rehabilitation Services in Derby are engaged in relevant research projects/ clinical trials and implement and evaluate new and innovative clinically effective treatment techniques inorder to establish Derby as a centre of excellence.
