About the role:



Our Client is looking for a seasoned Cloud Infrastructure Architect with deep expertise in the retail and telecommunications industries. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will work closely with clients to modernize legacy systems, support digital transformation initiatives, and ensure alignment with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:



?Architect end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions tailored to large-scale retail and telecom environments. Lead infrastructure modernization projects including migration of compute, storage, and network workloads to GCP. Design hybrid and multi-cloud architectures ensuring scalability, availability, and cost-efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineers, security architects, and application developers. Establish infrastructure standards and reference architectures for retail stores, data centers, and telco networks. Ensure compliance with UK regulations including GDPR, BSI, and Telekom security frameworks. Engage directly with enterprise clients, leading technical workshops and architecture reviews.

Required Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience in IT with different industry verticals (Example - retail and/or telecom systems). 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with core GCP services (e.g., Compute Engine, GKE, VPC, Cloud Storage, Cloud IAM, Cloud DNS, Cloud Load Balancing). Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform. Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies. Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls). Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., GCP Operations Suite, Prometheus, Grafana). Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. Experience with hybrid cloud deployments, data center migrations, and networking topologies. Strong knowledge of cloud security and governance practices within regulated environments. Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience in cloud transformation programs for leading industries in UK. Understanding of OSS/BSS systems, point-of-sale (POS), and retail IoT infrastructure. Strong stakeholder management and consulting experience with enterprise customers. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
