Cluster Assistant Financial Controller, Clayton Belfast and Maldron Belfast City

We have a new exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join our accounts and finance team. This is an exciting new role, working directly with the Cluster Financial Controller to support their decision making and owning the financial processes that contribute to the financial management of the hotels.You will gain experience in the use of market-leading financial technologies, key stakeholder communications including customers and suppliers and regular reporting to meet listed company requirements.

The cluster assistant financial controller will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the finance and accounts function within our hotels.

The focus areas will include:

  • Reviewing costs and implementing processes where savings can be made.
  • Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure the HOD`s understand departmental KPIs.
  • Review margins and highlight where improvements can be made.
  • Preparation and review of weekly revenue & payroll forecasts \xe2\x80\x93 review of actual v forecas and preparation of weekly & year end forecasts.
  • A leading involvement in the month end process.
  • Champion weekly/daily meetings and interactions with Heads of Departments, being a true support to the hotel within all areas of accounts and finance
  • Income Audit management to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Engage with our Shared Service Centre - Examining outstanding transactions or other areas of concern across the portfolio
  • Payroll management- weekly and monthly payroll including analysis and control.
  • Debtors \xe2\x80\x93 regularly reviewing the Debtors Ledgers and PM Accounts to ensure tight controls on credit are being maintained and collection of debts are being collected on a timely basis.
  • Creditors- Maintenance of the hotel\xe2\x80\x99s purchasing system, reconciliation of creditor statements and dealing with supplier queries
  • Forecasting - Understand key trends, variances assessing current and future business risk ensuring that alternative strategies are put in place.
  • Ensure all journals are processed and appropriately reviewed and reconciling all balance sheet control accounts including accruals and prepayments.
  • Ensure the monthly Management Accounts show a fair reflection of trade both current and future
  • Assisting with the Internal &external Audit. Ensure that an effective program of Property Audit is in place and that corrective action is promptly taken.
  • Budgeting \xe2\x80\x93 Assist in preparation of the numbers with the Cluster FC & that they make sense and reflect the strategy of the property
Key requirements for the role;
  • We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.
  • The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part qualified accountant. (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or other equivalent qualification)
  • Strong Internal Control Awareness and knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
