Star Instruments Ltd. is one of the UK and Ireland's longest established Manufacturers and Suppliers of Pressure Gauge, Temperature Gauge, Thermometer, Flow Switches and associated Instruments. The Company has been established for almost 60 years and has branches in Dunmurry, Belfast and St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Our dedicated production team can manufacture to meet customers unique specifications.

Based in our Dunmurry branch, the successful candidate will have machine shop experience in a variety of machines including manual lathes, pedestal drills, CNC lathes and machining centres. The machine shop provides parts and service to the main factory floor, including both machined (brass and 316 stainless steel) and pressed parts.

The ideal candidate will have served a recognised apprenticeship and have at least 3 years post apprenticeship experience.

The successful candidate must have proven experience in CNC operating and setting.

They must also be competent in the use of Fanuc CNC lathe controls.

Knowledge of Mazatrol and/or Heidenhain controls would be advantageous.

The post will also involve general machine shop activities including turning, drilling, tapping and pressing.

The successful candidate MUST have:

At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing machine shop. A minimum of grade C in GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent). The ability to select, install and set tooling in CNC lathes and machining centres. Full competency in Fanuc control systems The ability to read and understand engineering component drawings Several years' experience in operating CNC lathes and machining centres in a machine shop, producing components.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:

Experience of Mazatrol and/or Heidenhain control systems. Experience of 3 axis machines, twin spindle lathes and powered tooling. Experience in using a wide selection of machine shop equipment. The ability to understand and modify CNC programs.
