We are looking to recruit a CNC Programmer, if possible somebody available for an immediate start. This would be a temporary role with the possibility of the appointment becoming longer term. We require somebody who can work from workshop drawings and CAD models to prepare all CNC machining details and toolpaths. This is a computer-based role focused on programming and documentation, ensuring the CNC operator has accurate, efficient files to run.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret joinery/furniture drawings and CAD models.
Extract machining requirements (drilling, profiling, rebates, pockets, nesting).
Generate accurate toolpaths using CAM software.
Optimise programs for material yield, efficiency, and machine capability.
Produce setup sheets and clear instructions for the CNC operator.
Maintain libraries of tools, cutters, feeds, and speeds.
Liaise with designers/drafters to clarify technical details and resolve issues.
Check and simulate toolpaths to minimise errors on the shop floor.
Skills & Experience
Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Alphacam, Fusion 360, RhinoCAM, or similar).
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.
Good understanding of joinery construction methods and CNC machining processes.
High accuracy and attention to detail.
Organised, methodical approach to preparing files and documentation.
Nice to Have
Experience with nesting optimisation.
Knowledge of timber, veneer, laminates, and sheet materials.
Previous experience in furniture/joinery workshops.
