Job Description

Working hours: Mon - Thurs 7:00 - 3:30 & Friday 7:00- 12:00

We are currently seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our growing team, to produce CNC Programs for various milling & turning machine.

Purpose of the role and key accountabilities:



A CNC Programmer is responsible for programming milling & turning machine, to produce precision components and parts. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC technology, machining processes, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimise CNC programs.

General



Developing and modifying CNC programs using CAD/CAM software Understanding of machining processes in milling and turning. Competent in reading technical design drawings to produce 3D models & 2D drawings. Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for specific machining tasks. Designing and implementing tooling / fixtures to enhance production processes. Liaising with tooling manufacturers/ suppliers

Tooling and Fixture Design:



Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for specific machining tasks. Design and implement tooling and fixtures to enhance production processes.

Documentation:



Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, tooling, and machine setups. Document any modifications or adjustments made to CNC programs.

Safety and Compliance:



Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards. Participate in safety training and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.

Collaboration:



Work closely with production and engineering teams to understand job requirements. Provide input on process improvements and efficiency enhancements.

Quality:



Ensure compliance with

AS9100 Rev D

and

customer-specific aerospace standards

. Validate all CNC programs using

virtual simulation and verification software

to prevent collisions, gouging, or over-travel. Participate in

First Article Inspection (FAI)

per

AS9102

requirements, verifying that machined components meet all drawing tolerances and process specifications Maintain

100% traceability

of CNC programs, revisions, tool lists, and setup documentation. Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Production to

resolve nonconformances (NCRs)

and implement corrective actions. Support

Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

and contribute to risk mitigation for machining processes. Ensure all documentation (setup sheets, inspection reports, revision logs) aligns with

Document Control Procedures

.

Cost:



To ensure that the Offline CNC Programmer actively contributes to

cost efficiency

process optimization

, and

waste reduction

while maintaining compliance with

aerospace quality standards

and engineering specifications.

Delivery:



To ensure that the Offline CNC Programmer delivers CNC programs, process documentation, and related technical outputs

on time, in full, and right the first time

-- in accordance with project schedules, production needs, and customer delivery commitments.

People:



Reports directly to

Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Design Engineering

during DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews.

Core skills/attributes



Desirable:



Knowledge of Solidworks & Alphacam Heidenhain & Fanuc programming

Qualifications and Skills:



HNC/City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Apprenticeship Qualification Certification in CNC programming or machining may be advantageous Minimum 3-5 years experience as an Offline CNC Programmer in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
Measurable performance indicators / objectives of role:

Both regular reviews and an annual PDR will be held to ensure the employee and their Line Manager are happy with their performance, progress and development. Further reviews may also be held to discuss any ongoing training needs of the employee.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 41,500.00-42,500.00 per year
