CNC Programmer - Setter Position

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in programming, setting, and operating both fixed head and sliding head CNC lathes. This role requires a thorough understanding of precision engineering practices, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

Set and operate fixed head and sliding head CNC lathes to produce components that meet stringent specifications. Proficiently use FANUC and Siemens control software for programming and machine operation. Effectively load programmes, set tools, and adjust offsets to ensure optimal machine performance. Configure workholding systems and make necessary tool adjustments, including changing inserts and fine-tuning offsets. Utilise precision measuring tools such as vernier gauges and micrometres to ensure accurate measurements and tolerances. Conduct thorough visual inspections and measurements of first-off components and mid-batch parts to maintain quality standards and identify any necessary adjustments.

Machines in Use:

Star SR-20JII

: A high-performance sliding head CNC lathe with 12 axes, highly regarded for its precision and versatility in producing complex components.

DMG Mori CLX 350 V6

: A state-of-the-art CNC lathe with 5 axes, known for its reliability and advanced capabilities, ensuring superior machining quality and efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience as a CNC Programmer - Setter, with a strong background in CNC turning. In-depth knowledge of programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes, including fixed head and sliding head machines. Familiarity with FANUC and Siemens controls, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise machine programmes effectively. Proficiency in tool setting, offset adjustments, and workholding techniques. Competence in using precision measurement tools, including vernier gauges and micrometres. Ability to conduct visual inspections and maintain quality control standards through first-off and mid-batch assessments. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship.
