Duties
- Set up and operate CNC lathes to perform precision machining operations
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations
- Select and install cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and machine accessories according to drawing specifications
- Load materials into the machine and ensure proper alignment
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
- Adjust machine controls and offsets as necessary to ensure quality production
- Inspect finished products for accuracy and conformance to specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment, as well as to the workshop
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and their specifications
- Comfortable with programming online to drawing specifications
- Knowledge of tooling selection and installation procedures
- Basic math skills for calculations and measurements
- Experience with CAD software is preferred but not required
- Welding experience is a plus
