Clayton Engineering Limited is a specialist engineering company based in Knighton, Powys. The company was recently acquired by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for whom it manufactures lifeboat launch and recovery equipment.
The company is looking to recruit an experienced fabricator/welder to join our weld shop team and support in the manufacture of a range of high quality complex mechanical equipment including lifeboat carriages and lifeboat launch and recovery tractors.
Our state-of-the-art welding facilities are safe, clean and well ventilated.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fabrication and weld of high-quality complex components. The ability to work to engineering drawings and standardised work instructions, safely and efficiently is essential. A weld test will be required as part of our assessment process.
Working Hours are: 8:00-17:00 Mon-Thu & 8:00-16:00 Fri (39 Hours per week)
Occasional UK Travel on company business for training.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacture, modify or repair high quality complex components to technical drawings, samples or instructions.
Progress the work/job on a routine's bases, from initial inspection to final inspection in line with requirements stipulated.
Identify materials and tools as required for the job, ensuring continuity of the work.
Support the Weld shop foreman to ensure estimated times and deadlines are met - this may involve extra working hours.
Support the Weld shop foreman to ensure that any daily/weekly equipment checks are carried out when required and reported and documented accordingly.
Maintain good housekeeping and standards in the workplace at all times.
Maintain good communication at all times with your line management and colleagues.
Qualifications required
City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent in Welding and Fabrication - Essential
Coded welder qualification - Essential
Fork Lift Truck Licence - Desirable
Experience required
MIG/MAG Process
MMA Process
TIG Process
Manufacturing, modifying or repairing complex high-quality components to technical drawings
