Job Role:
The Coffee Shop Assistant plays an important role within the Sugar Snap Kitchen team, delivering excellent customer service and high-quality food and drink in a welcoming cafe environment. The role supports the day-to-day running of the coffee shop, including food preparation and cooking, while upholding our standards and values. You will help build a positive team culture and contribute to a great customer experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Service
Provide friendly, professional, and inclusive customer service at all times
Take customer orders accurately and process payments using the till system
Build positive relationships with customers and represent Sugar Snap Kitchen values
Food, Cooking & Beverage Preparation
Prepare, cook, and serve meals to a high standard
Prepare and serve high-quality coffee to Sugar Snap Kitchen standards
Follow agreed recipes, food specifications, and portion controls to ensure consistency and quality
Present food attractively, with a high level of attention to detail and consistency
Maintain good product knowledge of all food and drink offerings
Assist with menu development within an agreed budget, responding to customer feedback and contributing ideas for improvement
Team & Operations Support
Support the Coffee Shop Lead with daily operations
Work collaboratively with team members to create a positive working environment
Attend team meetings and training sessions as required
Contribute ideas and feedback to help improve service and team working
Hygiene, Safety & Standards
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area throughout each shift
Follow food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen procedures at all times
Work confidently and calmly in a fast-paced environment
Personal Development
Take part in training and learning opportunities
Show a willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role
Most importantly, enjoy your work, have fun, and be part of a supportive team
What we are looking for
Essential
A passion for delivering excellent customer service
Friendly, approachable, and confident communication skills
Ability to work well as part of a team
Willingness to learn and follow procedures
Flexibility to work a range of shifts
Desirable
Experience in a cafe, restaurant, or hospitality setting
Barista training or an interest in coffee-making
Experience in food preparation or catering
(Training will be provided, so we encourage applications from people with transferable skills or a strong interest in hospitality.)
